Our Lady of Mercy Maronite

CATHOLIC

CHURCH

Who we are
Divine Blessings is a ministry at Our Lady of Mercy Church that combines both prayer and hand crafting, with the intention to reach out to our parishioners and our community as a way to express God’s compassion in a tangible way. We got established in January of 2014. Currently, there are 11 members in the ministry (parishioners and non-parishioners).

What we do
Our current focus is on knitting/crocheting prayer shawls for those in need of comfort and spiritual support (undergoing medical procedures, illness, and bereavement…).  Many blessings for the recipient will be prayed into the knitting/crocheting process of every single shawl.   Our priest blesses the completed shawls during a prayer service before they are ready to be delivered to the recipients.
We start our meeting by praying the Chaplet of St. Charbel, we knit, we help with any knitting questions, and we discuss progress and any future planning for our ministry.
We will be focusing on other worthy causes in the future as well.

What we need
We are in need of experienced knitters /crocheters who enjoy knitting or crocheting and who can commit to delivering a minimum of two shawls/year to join our ministry.
Donations of supplies are greatly appreciated: if you have a stash of yarn at home you are not using, that will be great.  If you decide to purchase yarn, we like soft medium skeins or soft light skeins; they’re available at most craft stores.
Your prayers and your help will ensure our mission will continue to make and deliver the shawls.

Our contact and meeting information:
We meet once a month on the Wednesday that falls in the week of the 22nd of each month as a devotion to St. Charbel at 10:00 a.m. in the Church Hall or at previously agreed upon time and location.
